  1. A caterpillar track is a trade name for an 
  2. endless flexible belt of metal plates on 
  3. which certain vehicles such as tanks and 
  4. bulldozers run, which takes the place of 
  5. ordinary tyred wheels and improves 
  6. performance on wet or uneven surfaces. 
  7. A track-laying vehicle has a track on each 
  8. side, and its engine drives small cogwheels 
  9. that run along the top of the track in 
  10. contact with the ground.
